Generational Change

It is pleasing to announce that Co-Opera's touring assistance grant from the Federal Government for 2008 is the largest single grant we have ever received. This will allow us to perform in every mainland State and Territory during 2008.

To consolidate for future generations the performance opportunities that Co-Opera has spent 15 years developing, Co-Opera's Board of Management, under the Chairmanship of Ian Hardy, has turned its attention to fundraising within the private sector and through philanthropy and bequests. We are pleased to advise the engagement of Sue Mikkelsen of Sponsorship Connections to lead our company in this new, coordinated strategic venture.

Our 2008 Performances

The touring piece for our ambitious 2008 program is Verdi's timeless La Traviata, surely a work that contains some of the most magnificent melodies ever written: music that is used to intensify one of opera's most joyous yet heart-rending stories.

In our home State of South Australia , the astonishingly successful Friends of Co-Opera Restaurant Series of performances expands in 2008 to embrace two Adelaide central venues for each program. Several regional centres have also found the affordability and artistic accessibility of this series highly convenient. There is room for more hosting participants if any are still thinking about it.

As in other years, 2008 will see another season of specially devised schools' performances, this time of The Magic Flute, a favourite of children of all ages. And in September, we again take a vocal swallow dive at the unsuspecting general public from the SuperStars Stage at the Royal Adelaide Show. Passers-by beware! Co-Opera is on the Move.

Please! put on your roller skates and join us!
