Co-Opera
Plans for the Future
Plans
for 2012/2013
Co-Opera is planning to present Mozart's Cosi fan
tutte and Handel's Acis & Galatea in the first half
of 2012; and The Gondoliers by Gilbert & Sullivan and
Kurt Weill's Little Mahagonny in the second half of the year.
They will be presented in several venues across South Australia
from March to November. If you are interested in hosting any of
these productions, please contact Helen Simpson on 08 8233 6245
or email coopera@aso.com.au
for further details or see attached
Expressions of Interest form.
Europe
in 2012
Our highly successful 2011 touring piece, The Marriage of Figaro,
will be presented in Germany in May 2012 after an invitation extended
by the Hessischestaatstheater in Wiesbaden.. These plans follow
on from the highly successful tour of Germany and Switzerland Co-Opera
undertook in May 2009, [see
European reviews under Media in this web-site]
Plans
for 2013
Co-Opera will apply to Playing Australia for assistance to tour
Johann Strauss's ever popular operetta, Die Fledermaus, to Australia's
Eastern States in March/April/May and in June 2012 an application
will also be submitted to extend this coverage to NT/WA in August
September. A new production is being developed for the purpose directed
by Adelaide theatrical legend, Frank Ford. Production design will
be created by Kathryn Sproul who is renowned throughout the country
for her successful productions.
Hosting
a Co-Opera Performance
Organisations interested to host a Co-Opera performance of Die
Fledermaus in 2012 are invited to complete the attached Expression
of Interest Form and direct to Helen Simpson at coopera@aso.com.au.
Auditions
in September 2011
Auditions will be held on Saturday 17 September from 9.30am - 6.00pm
at the Thomas Edmonds Opera Studio, Adelaide Showground. Auditions
will also be held in Melbourne later in the year - date to be advised.
Co-Opera offers employment to singers who are able
to describe themselves as Adelaide-based. This is because our "shoe-string"
company has no resources to pay the travel, accommodation and wage
penalty costs of engaging artists "away from home" during
the rehearsal periods [normally 4-6 weeks for touring productions]
Artists interested in participating in these plans
are invited to direct a biography citing details of performance
training and relevant performance experience to Helen Simpson, coopera@aso.com.au
and to seek an audition time. Please see Audition
Requirements attached.
